5 Tips For Working Productively

5 Tips For Working Productively

1. Think like a mogul

Although you may have decided to start your own business to save time, the truth is that you still need to work, sometimes more than if it were an employee. You need to set a timetable that you can keep up with. Make daily to-do lists and give yourself deadlines. Work as if your company is a Fortune 500 CEO. You don’t have to be a slacker when you are an entrepreneur. Keep in mind that your goal is to build an empire.

2. Eliminate distractions

Distractions like watching TV or making phone calls are among the most destructive to productivity. When you’re trying catch up on favorite shows or when you have a constant stream of calls from friends wishing to chat, it can be difficult to concentrate. Multitasking is great, but it will not get you anywhere fast. It’s time to turn off the TV, tell your family and friends about your work schedule and then stick with it.

3. Schedule Breaks

Schedule breaks into your daily routine. As a 9-5 employee you would get two breaks of 10-15 minutes each and an hour for lunch. Do not think you must work all day to achieve productivity. Breaks are essential. Take a break to stretch and grab something to eat. You can even use your breaks to write in social media or do other things you need. You will only want it more if you don’t give yourself enough, so take some time to breathe.

4. Get dressed up

It’s easy to be lazy by sitting around in your PJs all day. Get dressed every morning. Comb your hair and put on your makeup. You can do whatever you’d do if you had to go to work. Research has shown that how you look directly correlates with how you feel. If you keep your hair dangling from your head and wear fluffy pajamas, you will likely feel unmotivated and sluggish. If you can pull yourself together, you will feel more prepared and ready to tackle your to-do lists head on.

5. Location, Location and Location

Although the bed is most comfortable, it can also be the most dangerous. It is not dangerous in the literal sense of the word, but it is likely to be the most productive place for you to work. You can have a huge impact on your work productivity by choosing a place that is more conducive for getting things done. It is a good idea to have an area in your home that you can turn into your office. You might also consider using the kitchen table or other quiet space that allows you to be alert and productive. You can also visit a local cafe/restaurant or bookstore if you feel the need for a change of scenery. You will be awakened by the bumbling environment. Also, if you want to get anything done, it will help you feel more positive.
