It is challenging to come up with great ideas and even more difficult to execute them. Few entrepreneur stories have had a significant impact on the world and the economy. Although it can be challenging to compile a list of the top five entrepreneurs, I tried to make it as objective as possible by considering socio-economic factors. These are the five best entrepreneurs that will live in our collective memory for having an unwavering impact on our minds.
1. Steve Jobs
He is the brain behind the world’s most innovative and hottest company. Steve Jobs, a man who is known for his arrogance, rudeness, and abusive nature, will always be remembered as one of the most outstanding visionary entrepreneurs and inspirational people of all time. His dream of creating products such as the iPhone and iPads was what ultimately made a difference. He relied more on intuition and gut feelings and believed that Apple wouldn’t have invented the products on today’s market if they had used market research. The success story of Steve jobs is told through his creations, which range from the Macintosh to iTunes and the iPod to the iPad.
2. Sergey Brin and Larry Page
Google is the most searched-after search engine worldwide, with around 3 billion searches per day. Sergey Brin and Larry Page, the founders of Google, would never have imagined that what began as a dream from their Menlo garage in 1999 would grow into a $10 billion company in 2011. Google’s investment in research and development is what makes it so powerful. It is also the most challenging task for the company to stay ahead of its competition.
3. Mark Zuckerberg
Mark Zuckerberg, a Harvard University dropout who would never have imagined that he would become the owner and founder of the company that will be the largest IPO ever. It has been eight years since Facebook was founded. This invention is considered an example of an entrepreneur’s genius. Despite the increasing competition from Google, Facebook continues to be ahead due to the innovative changes and applications that its developers create from time to time.
4. Narayana Murthy
The name of one of the most successful capitalists in the world is another addition to the list. Murthy had the vision to make India competitive with the west and took on software development work in India. Murthy was one of the founders of Infosys. He sparked a revolution in India by creating many job opportunities and putting enormous wealth into the Indian economy. He stressed teamwork and a value-based organizational structure.
5. Sam Walton
This list would not be complete without mentioning the name and achievements of those who have revolutionized American retail. Walton, who died 30 years after opening his first Walmart store in America, was 74. Walton is known as the father of the retail industry and will be remembered for his contributions to the retail industry’s efficiency and organizational culture. His company’s success mantra was to buy low and stack high, then sell cheap. The company was able to sustain its business model by combining this strategy with monitoring real-time consumer behavior. Sam Walton changed the entire supplier-retailer relationship.
